Self Love Series Pt II: Set Time for Your Self Care Time
Disclaimer: I originally set on posting this on April 13th (My Birthday) as I originally planned on posting every Thursday, however, I did not finish it on time, so I removed it so I can completely finish my post.
Hi guys! Today I want to talk about how we should all set time to have special self care time for ourselves. Many of us tend to have busy lives, such as school, work, extracurriculars, or even having our hands full at home. From these hectic activities we have, we may feel stressed or sad.
But, there also many of us who may tend to isolate ourselves and not do many things, and just hang in our rooms all day, scrolling away. And from this we may also struggle mentally.
I have been part of both of these groups before, and I just want to say that regardless of what category you may be part of, you still may or may not struggle with many physical and mental health struggles and it is essential that we all should try to find ways how to improve and better our wellbeing.
This can be done by setting just at least 3-5 minutes to yourself, to make yourself feel loved or cared for.
This practice is called Self Care.
What are some ways that we could practice Self Care?
Affirmations/Speaking and Trying To Care For Yourself In a Kind and Gentle Way.
I am someone who consistently talks down to themselves due to my own struggles of self esteem. This is something that you may struggle with as well. I believe that an essential way to explore self love is to learn how to speak to yourself in a much more kinder and gentle way.
Look at yourself in the mirror, and say something that you love about your personality and your appearance, even if you don’t believe in it. When you do that, you may feel a sense of liberation, or feel that you are lying to yourself. But if you felt the strength to say that amazing thing about yourself, you must believe in it too. We are all exceptional human beings, and we are all different, that’s what makes us unique <3.
There are other several things you can do to speak to yourself in a kinder way, such as writing down or saying affirmations, or listening to affirmations that relate to loving and caring about yourself. This is a practice that I’m trying to follow as well. The more you say or even see these affirmations, the more you believe in them and the more your subconscious believes in them too. These can help your subconscious grow and believe what you’re trying to say about yourself, which betters your self love.
Some apps that I have used that helps me are the following:
I hope these pages help inspire you to speak to yourself in the most beautiful ways, just like you <3.
2. Engage In Creative Activities!
I am a firm believer that letting your creativity flow not only helps stimulate your mind, it can also help ease up any tension or stress you have within yourself. For me, that’s writing. When I write, I feel a better sense of self, I get to let my mind take me wherever I want to. For you, it may or may not be something different. It could be something as simple as writing a story. Or something like doing something handmade, or making art, or cooking, or getting together to do something fun with your friends. It could also be one of your favorite games! (I personally enjoy playing Minecraft). By doing these creative things from time to time, you're not only showing yourself ways to do something fun, but you are also taking care of your well being.
Speaking of games, there’s this cool game I’ve been playing that can help with us who are going through their Self Love journey!
This is KinderWorld! A game that helps others water their beautiful plants by participating in kindness activities, such as describing your emotions, breathing excercises, and having daily gratitude questions that can help you assess how you’re feeling.
I have had this game for about two weeks, and it helps me unwind whenever I am stressed, plus the game is so cute! It is available on both Play Store and the App Store.

3. Do Something You Love!
Finding and doing something you really love is an essential part of bettering our mental health, and for many this can be made in a variety of ways. For me, I really love sleeping (and yes sleeping counts too!) and going out on nature walks alone. I love going out alone as it feels like I am exploring the world. But, there are many passions that you may or may not have, that you feel like you aren’t good enough at doing or exploring.
I am here to tell you that you should DO IT! <3
We all only have one life, and that life should be spent on us growing, healing, and discovering what we love.
4. Seek Friends and Support:
It can be hard for us to heal without the support of others. Having support and feeling someone’s in your corner is vital to your wellness journey. This can be from pouring your heart out to someone you trust, or seeing someone to help you grow and improve in your mental health. I am someone who struggles with telling people how I feel, and this may be you too. And it wasn’t until recently where my friend set me up with a social worker at school, who I can talk to about literally anything, with or without anyone knowing. If you are someone who needs to talk to someone, there are online therapists as well as school therapists and social workers, who you can contact. You deserve to have someone there for you.
You shouldn’t be alone.
5. Try Relaxation Techniques:
These can be a variety of things such as:
Skin Care: Masks, Spa and Massage Treatments
Going out for a walk outside and relaxing in the sunshine
Meditation: Closing your eyes and letting yourself relax and calm your mind
Breathing techniques: Controlling our breathing can calm ourselves. allowing us to slow down and relax.
Try these things in your wellness journey!
6. Set Some Time For Yourself
It doesn't have to be everyday, it doesn’t have to be once a year. Setting at least one time a day, week, month, to just have time for you, even for five minutes, to even just do one or something else outside of these techniques, cannot only better your wellness, but it also allows yourself to appreciate and adore the person you are. Set a time that suits you, but please be consistent, don’t neglect yourself okay?
I appreciate you all, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
xoxo
